Communication Area Field Referencing
The communication area contains fields that are accessible both by you
and by HP ALLBASE/4GL. The communication area consists of fields that you
can alter, and fields that are only available for reference purposes.
You can reference any communication area field by its HP ALLBASE/4GL
name, or by its synonym if the system administrator has defined one.
You can reference a substring of a non-numeric communication area field.

where name is the name of one of the communication area fields or its
synonym.
