HP RPG/XL Utilities-Part 3 SIGEDITOR

Converting S, D, and H Specifications

This utility is provided for users of IBM Systems 34 and 36.

The CONVERT S and D SPEC utility allows you to convert screen source
files containing the S, D, and H specifications from the IBM system to
the files used by SIGEDITOR. The S, D, and H specifications are assumed
to be correct. No syntax checking is done.

Select this utility from the main menu by pressing f2 . On the screen
displayed, supply the name of the S and D file being converted and the
name of the form files to be created. The S and D filename can be any
valid MPE file set. This allows more than one S and D Spec file to be
converted at a time. If the S and D Spec filename is invalid, SIGEDITOR
requests the entry of a new file set.

NOTE If the file named in the new forms file field already exists, you are prompted to purge it. A Y response to the prompt purges the file and continues the conversion into the new forms file. An N response terminates conversion for that file.
If you are converting more than one S and D Spec file at a time, use wildcard specifications. The S and D Spec filename and the new forms filename must be the same length and contain wildcard characters in the same positions. @.<group>.<account> Example: Correct Incorrect Incorrect --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- S and D filename: @SD.SDSPECS INV@# ORD@SD New forms file: @FM.FRMFILES INV@ ORDFM@ The examples in the first "incorrect" column are wrong because the filenames are not the same length. The examples in the second "incorrect" column are wrong because the wildcard characters do not occur in the same position. Enter A or P in the Processing option field. If you type A (all), SIGEDITOR will attempt to convert all S and D files specified. If you type P (prompt), SIGEDITOR prompts you to confirm the conversion of each S and D file in the set. Next, enter a response to Verify results for each conversion (Y/N)?. An N (No) response causes SIGEDITOR to attempt conversion of each S and D file without interruption, regardless of errors. A Y (yes) response causes SIGEDITOR to list errors found during the conversion as they are encountered. When the conversion is done, Conversion process completed is displayed on the screen. To exit from this screen and return to the main menu, press f8 .
NOTE You may be familiar with the convert entry point. This feature has been disabled. You must now run SIGEDITOR without any entry points and press f2 (CONVERT S & D SPEC) from the main menu. The S and D specification file must be fixed, ASCII, 80 bytes, or unnumbered.
