Silhouette Reference Manual
Communications Process Error Messages
The following error messages are concerned with the Silhouette
Communications Process (CP).
0001 MESSAGE PTOP error on internal line ( line ), DS line ( dsline ),
File System or DS Error = nnn (CPERR 1)
CAUSE This is a failure in the Program-TO-Program Communications
intrinsics.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

0002 MESSAGE Associated DS secondary terminated. (CPERR 2)
CAUSE After a PTOP error, a PCLOSE and DS line close were issued.
ACTION Check the communications link to the secondary system.

0011 MESSAGE Error writing to RESPONSES file. (CPERR 11)
CAUSE An MPE file system error occurred in an FWRITE to the
RESPONSES file to the MP.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

0012 MESSAGE Silhouette terminated by STOP/KILL. (CPWARN 12)
CAUSE This message appears after a successful >STOP or >KILL.
ACTION No action is required.

0013 MESSAGE Control request rejected by remote. Request = nnn. (CPERR
13)
CAUSE A control request to the secondary CP was rejected.
ACTION Examine the $STDLIST for further information.

0014 MESSAGE No Recovery Process on remote system. (CPERR 14)
CAUSE This message often appears when restarting the system after
a secondary system failure or aborted Recovery Process job.
ACTION Wait for the RP to be recreated. Issue a >STATUS command to
check for the secondary flag to show Shadow Mode.

0015 MESSAGE No response received from the remote recovery process.
(CPERR 15)
CAUSE Response was expected from RP but was not received before
timeout occurred.
ACTION Check that the secondary Silhouette job is running.

0016 MESSAGE Stopping...(CPWARN 16)
CAUSE This message appears when the >STOP command is in progress
and waiting for a quiet period.
ACTION No action is required.

0017 MESSAGE Couldn't create the remote Recovery Process. (CPERR 17)
CAUSE The job stream of the RP job failed.
ACTION Check $STDLIST for errors.

0018 MESSAGE Remote command already in progress. Internal error. (CPERR
18)
CAUSE The command pipe file already contained a command.
ACTION Investigate the secondary for reasons why the RP is impeded.
System may just be temporarily slow.

0019 MESSAGE WRITELOG error = nnn. (CPERR 19)
CAUSE An MPE error occurred writing to the logfile on the
secondary system.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

CAUSE An MPE error occurred in the FCREATE of the Tape Process.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

0021 MESSAGE File System Error reading tape response. (CPERR 21)
CAUSE Cannot communicate with the Tape Process.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

CAUSE Cannot communicate with the Tape Process.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

CAUSE An MPE error occurred in the PTOP communications system.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

CAUSE Probably a DS line problem.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

CAUSE An MPE file system error occurred in the FOPEN of the pipe
files on the secondary system.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

0026 MESSAGE Secondary couldn't open the pipes. (CPWARN 26)
CAUSE An MPE file system error occurred in the FOPEN of the pipe
files on the secondary system.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

0027 MESSAGE Secondary couldn't create SRP. (CPWARN 27)
CAUSE Couldn't stream the internal job to run RP.
ACTION Check the jobfence and limits.

0028 MESSAGE SRP couldn't open the databases. (CPERR 28)
CAUSE The RP on the secondary system could not open the databases.
ACTION Check database access and security.

CAUSE An MPE file system error occurred in the FOPEN of the
logfile on the secondary system.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

CAUSE An MPE error occurred in the OPENLOG intrinsic.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

CAUSE An MPE error occurred in the CREATE intrinsic.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

CAUSE This is the result of a DS line error or remote secondary
error.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

CAUSE Message file write failed to Tape Process.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

CAUSE An MPE file system error occurred in the FREAD of the SAVE
file.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

CAUSE This message appears when restarting after a secondary
system failure or aborted Recovery Process job. See CPERR
14.
ACTION No action is required.

CAUSE An MPE file system error occurred in the FOPEN of the TOCP
file in the Tape Process.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

CAUSE An MPE file system error occurred in the FOPEN of the FROMCP
file in the Tape Process.

CAUSE Secondary GET error in the PTOP system.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

0044 MESSAGE Error reading logfile. (CPERR 44)
CAUSE An MPE error occurred when the CP tried to FREAD the
logfile.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

0045 MESSAGE Error reading logfile. (TPERR 44)
CAUSE An MPE error occurred when the tape handling process tried
to FREAD the logfile.
ACTION Call your System Manager.

0046 MESSAGE Dsline (dsline) open error = nnnreturned by DS. (CPERR 46)
CAUSE The line number in error is a 0-relative index into list of
lines.
ACTION See the DS Manual for the specific error.

0047 MESSAGE End of Silhouette. (CPMSG 47)
CAUSE This message indicates the end of Silhouette.
ACTION No action is required.

0048 MESSAGE Only U-MIT Logging allows a logfile sequence number.
Sequence number nnnreturned by SILRP. (CPERR 48)
CAUSE This message only appears if user backdates MPE on the
primary system to a version prior to U-MIT.
ACTION Do not use AUTO CHANGELOG feature.

0049 MESSAGE LOGINFO intrinsic call failed while opening logfile. User
logging error nnnby intrinsic. (CPERR 49)
CAUSE The logfile could not be opened.
ACTION Check the error provided in the message.

0050 MESSAGE Attempt to START with an out-of-sequence logfile. Secondary
logfile sequence number is nnn. (CPERR 50)
CAUSE A new log cycle was started with an old SAVE file.
ACTION Purge the old SAVE file and restart.

0051 MESSAGE CHANGELOG enabled and logfile doesn't end in 3 digits.
(CPERR 51)
CAUSE The logfile name is incompatible with U-MIT CHANGELOG
requirements.
ACTION Rename logfile to be compatible with U-MIT CHANGELOG
requirements.

0052 MESSAGE START with non-identical/unavailable secondary logfile.
(CPERR 52)
CAUSE The secondary logfile was either purged or changed while
Silhouette was not running.
ACTION Check to ensure the specified logfile exists on the
secondary system.

53)
CAUSE The internal Tape Process encountered an error opening the
log process.
ACTION Check the error number to determine the problem.

CAUSE The Tape Process couldn't open logfile.
ACTION Check $STDLIST for SILCP and correct the problem.

CAUSE Non-fatal error in REMOTE definition in configuration file.
ACTION Examine CI errors and configuration file to determine cause.

CAUSE The tape device(s) on the primary system is logically down.
ACTION Investigate the status of the tape device(s).
