Chapter 9 Peripherals Transportability of HP 5000 Spool Files from MPE/iX Release 5.0 to 4.0 by Bill O'Shaughnessy Commercial Systems Division Spool files created with dual environment files, (those that can print on either an HP 5000 or an HP 2680 page printer), have been modified slightly for MPE/iX Release 5.0. As a result of this modification, these spoolfiles will not print correctly on an HP 5000 connected to a system running MPE/iX Release 4.5 or earlier. This situation only affects HP 5000 printers; the spool files still print correctly on an HP 2680 on previous releases. The FXR1 patch for MPE/iX Release 4.0 corrects this situation. Dual environment spool files created on MPE/iX Release 5.0 systems will print correctly on an HP 5000 connected to an MPE/iX Release 4.0 system with that patch. However, dual environment spool files created on a Release 4.0 system with the FXR1 patch will not print correctly on an HP 5000 connected to a Release 4.0 system that does not have patch FXR1 installed. The spool files will print correctly on an MPE/iX Release 4.0 system with patch FXR1.
