DIRMIG Enhancements

DIRMIG, the Directory Migration Tool, is used to migrate an MPE/VE
operating environment to an MPE/iX-based computer system. This version
of DIRMIG, A.01.00, has been enhanced to migrate the Security Monitor
password management features from MPE V/E to MPE/iX.
Password Encryption
When DIRMIG reads an MPE V/E SYSDUMP tape and detects directory
containing encrypted passwords, DIRMIG displays the following:
MPE DIRECTORY MAY CONTAIN ENCRYPTED PASSWORDS.
HIT <RETURN> TO MIGRATE ENCRYPTED PASSWORDS OR
ENTER PASSWORD TO BE SUBSTITUTED
If you press the RETURN key in response to the prompt, all encrypted
passwords will be migrated. If you type a valid password, DIRMIG
replaces all encrypted passwords it encounters on the SYSDUMP tape with
the user-supplied password. A valid password consists of any eight
alphanumeric characters or less, beginning with an alphabetic character.
Other Password Management Features
In addition to password encryption, DIRMIG will also migrate the
following Security Monitor/V features to MPE/iX:
* Required Password
* Expired Password
* Expired Password Warning
NOTE Password encryption and all the other password management features
mentioned are only available on MPE V/E and MPE/iX with the
Security Monitor software.
