HP DeskManager Intrinsics

Appendix A  Compatibility Specifications
[REV BEG]

The HP Desk Intrinsics are only available as part of HP DeskManagerPLUS.
They do, however, continue to operate with versions B.03.00 of HP Desk or
later.[REV END]

There are a number of additions made to HP Desk for the Intrinsics and
other Hewlett-Packard products that use the Intrinsics. These additions
include extra markers in the headers of HP Desk messages. The markers
may be copied and returned in acknowledgments to messages by the
destination system or acted upon in some way. Obviously, if messages
from the Intrinsics are received by a version of HP Desk prior to
B.03.00, the extra markers will not appear in the acknowledgment that it
returns. Listed below are some of the effects caused by a message sent
by the Intrinsics being received by a pre-B.03.00 version of HP Desk:

   *   If a non-delivery item is generated by a pre-B.03.00 HP Desk
       system, then when an HPDGateReceive is done so that the item can
       be read, the item is generated as a reply rather than a
       non-delivery item. It will not contain a non-delivery reason.

   *   If a pre-B.03.00 system receives a non-delivery item, the
       non-delivery action indicator contained within it will not be
       acted upon.

   * An item being acknowledged by a pre-B.03.00 version of HP Desk
       will not contain an originating system reference. This means that
       acknowledgments returned by HPDGateReceive cannot be related to
       the original message.

   * The package type field in the tt_start_package Transaction File
       record is always set to a value of 1 meaning "standard package"
       regardless of what its real value was.
