HP DeskManager Intrinsics
Chapter 1 An Introduction to the Intrinsics
The HP Desk Intrinsics are a suite of programming calls available to
programmers using Pascal, COBOL or FORTRAN. They provide a simple way for
your applications to access the mailing and other services of HP Desk.
NOTE To use the HP Desk Intrinsics you must have HP DeskManagerPLUS.
The Intrinsics are divided into three main groups:
* User Intrinsics.
* Gateway Intrinsics.
* Supporting Intrinsics.
It is important that you decide which Intrinsics you need to use.
If you are only going to use the User and Supporting Intrinsics, you can
ignore the parts of this manual which refer to the Gateway Intrinsics.
If you are going to use the Gateway Intrinsics, it is necessary to have a
good understanding of how the HP Desk software works.
NOTE It is essential to read Chapter 9 before writing or installing
an application program.
This chapter contains an introduction to the features and concepts behind
the HP Desk Intrinsics, as well as general information you may need when
using the User, Supporting or Gateway Intrinsics.
