HP DeskManager Intrinsics

Chapter 4 Information You Need in Order to Use the Gateway Intrinsics

In order to use the Gateway Intrinsics, it is necessary to have a much
better understanding of the way HP Desk works than if you are only using
the User Intrinsics.

You are designing an extension to the HP Desk transport system, so
therefore, you must have a thorough understanding of the functionality of
the HP Desk transport and administration system and how HP Desk deals
with mail internally.

You also need a deeper understanding of how the Transaction File is used,
this is provided in Chapter 6 of this manual. When passing messages
between HP Desk and an external application, you must be able to describe
all the elements of the HP Desk message to the application. Messages
from an application to HP Desk must be set up correctly so that HP Desk
can receive them. It is necessary to use more of the Transaction File
records in order to do this than is necessary when using the User
Intrinsics. For example, when an application is signed on as a gateway,
there is no Default User name to be used in the creator field of the HP
Desk message, so your application has to provide a means of supplying
this and then passing that name to HP Desk in the tt_message_creator
transaction record.
