Real Life Experience # 8
A medical products distribution organization identified a 6 month
implementation schedule for their financial and billing system implementation.
The project team spent considerable time testing possible business process
scenarios to develop enhancements and facilitate significant cost savings. One
and a half months prior to the go-live date, the team began to examine the data
required to be converted from its legacy systems. With over 75,000 customer
records, the task of cleaning this data for the conversion became an immense
task. The project managers concluded that the time allotted would not be
sufficient and the go-live date was delayed 2 months. Temporary staff was
employed to enable additional staff to work on the data cleansing activities.
