Real Life Experience # 7
An automotive after-market manufacturer established an 8 month
implementation schedule for its two production facilities. Hardware was
ordered as a package environment at the same time the software order was
placed. Upon returning from training, the project team members needed a
system environment in which they could test the possibility of several process
solutions. Because the hardware was still 6 weeks away from delivery, project
team members were required to wait for the hardware before they could begin
process definition solution testing. Once the hardware was delivered,
technical personnel encountered several problems associated with technical
infrastructure compatibility which added an additional 3 weeks to the delay in
hardware setup.
