PC's as Cluster Node

• PC's that have to operate in a 24x7 cluster production environment should have the following capabilities:

  • High Performance
    • Clusters are typically used to tackle large computing problems, therefore its nodes should be top performers in CPU, networking and disk I/O. Don't waste shelf space with obsolete hardware.
    • Graphics and sound capabilities generally not important.
      • However, it's still useful if they have a good graphics card to facilitate later migration to the desktop.
