• The basic IPv6 header consists of eight fields

• The IPv4 header uses 14 fields

• IPv6 eliminates eight of IPv4's fields

• What might not be obvious is that in the IPv6 header, three IPv4 fields were renamed and enhanced, while two new fields were incorporated
