What is Scalability

• Application performance may be limited by factors external to your application

  • Hardware (CPU, Memory, I/O, Network)
  • “In-Between” Software (Virtual Machine, Middleware, Operating System)

• If you improve the limiting factor, your application’s performance proportionately improves
